JANE GREEN FRAS

Jane has been a guest on ITV's 'This Morning' show, BBC Two's 'Stargazing Live' and BBC Radio Four's 'Midweek'. She also regularly appears on BBC national and regional radio, national talkRADIO and TELEVISION  and is currently resident astronomer for BBC Surrey and Sussex Radio and Uckfield 105FM.  When not busy writing, presenting and broadcasting about astronomy, she is an Escort Guide for New Scientist Discovery Tours and a Guest Speaker on cruise ships travelling worldwide.

Most recently, she successfully presented for Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic Team in the Peter Harrison Planetarium at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich and has co-presented the pioneering theatre show TOUR OF THE UNIVERSE - a UK national tour.  Guests included the presenters of BBC television's The Sky at Night programme and other high-profile science communicators and was described by Professor Chris Lintott as 'a first and a triumph'.

Having also co-presented with the late Sir Patrick Moore CBE HonFRS FRAS, celebrities and media professionals, she was invited to be the Inaugural Speaker for the Sir Patrick Moore Memorial Lecture at Holmewood House School, the school where Sir Patrick himself taught.

With her international award winning business skills, Jane was initially head hunted for a career in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office but, instead, chose to go to sea.  Whilst serving as a senior officer she studied for a Degree in Astronomy and Planetary Sciences and began presenting all over the world.  This yielded many highlights, not least of which being invited to script a live television/theatre interview with the second man on the moon, US astronaut Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin!

A member of the Society of Authors, her book, the Haynes Astronomy Manual, is an international bestseller and has been translated into several languages; a  new edition has recently been released.  She also continues to feature in, and write for, various UK and US astronomy publications.

Jane's motto is, 'Look Up, Live it, Love it!'  Grounded by day in her role as a Racing Judge for the British Horseracing Authority, her passion for planet Earth and the science of astronomy allows her to fly.  Her enthusiasm is infectious.  She adores her subject and knows that you will too.
