MAIDENHEAD ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY

On the evening of Friday, 4 September I was extremely privileged to share my presentation - BASKETBALLS AND BEYOND: WONDERS OF THE COSMOS - with the Maidenhead Astronomical Society.

I received a wonderfully warm welcome on arrival and this really set the tone for the entire evening because all the MAS Members were so kind, enthusiastic and interactive throughout! I was made to instantly feel at home and was able to deliver a relaxed journey through the cosmos, beginning with a speck of cosmic dust and journeying onward and outward ... to beyond ... and beyond ... and beyond.

The beautiful Church Hall at St Martins-the-Less, Stubbings, was packed - fantastic - and I was inundated with questions at the end. I had also taken a stack of copies of my Haynes ASTRONOMY MANUAL - all of which were sold with members asking for more. How thrilling was that?

All in all a truly enjoyable evening. I loved every second, not only because I love sharing the subject, of course, but because everyone was so enthusiastic and kind!

My special thanks must extend to Tim Haymes (pictured at left) for all his help both at the start and end of the evening; Susan Flinders, Vice-Chairman (pictured at right), for looking after me so well and giving a great introduction, and extra special thanks to Robin Oldman, who so kindly helped out with a compatible laptop last-minute and was just an all-round genuinely lovely chap - someone you felt you had known your entire life!

Thank you ALL for an unforgettable time!
