JANE IN THE MEDIA
Jane has been a guest on ITV's 'This Morning' show, BBC Two's Stargazing Live and BBC Radio Four's 'Midweek'. She also regularly appears on BBC national and regional radio, talkRADIO and TELEVISION and is currently resident astronomer for BBC Surrey and Sussex Radio and Uckfield 105FM. When not busy writing, presenting and broadcasting about astronomy, she is an Escort Guide for New Scientist Discovery Tours and Guest Speaker on cruise ships travelling worldwide.
Most recently, she successfully presented for Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic team in the Peter Harrison Planetarium at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
As co-presenter of the pioneering theatre show TOUR OF THE UNIVERSE - a national tour with guests including BBC Sky at Night television programme presenters, Professor Chris Lintott and Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock and BBC Stargazing Live's, Mark Thompson – Jane wowed her audiences. The Tour was described by Professor Chris Lintott as 'a first and a triumph'.
Other events have included co-hosting a 24-hour SPACE SPECTACULAR at The Royal Institution with BBC’s Mark Thompson to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Having also co-presented with the late Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS, celebrities and media professionals, Jane was invited to be the Inaugural Speaker for the Sir Patrick Moore Memorial Lecture at Holmewood House School, the school where Sir Patrick himself taught for eight years.
She has been featured in, and writes for, various astronomy publications, including the UK's BBC Sky at Night magazine and the USA's Sky & Telescope publication, and has scripted a live television/theatre interview with the second man on the moon, US astronaut Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin.
Her book, the Haynes Astronomy Manual, is an international bestseller, has been translated into several languages and a new edition has recently been released.
