As well as being invited to give two astronomy presentations for the junior and senior students at Our Lady of Sion School on Wednesday 11 October 2017, I was honoured and delighted to be called upon to officially open the School's new 1B Science Laboratory.

Cutting the ribbon just as the fires made a bid for the lab ceiling. What fun!
Flanked by two ominous looking trays, each home to an unknown bubbling chemical, I somewhat tentatively approached the official red ribbon, and as I prised the scissors apart, so two lab technicians ignited the said liquid, sending two enormous plumes of fire punching towards the ceiling! What fun! As my hair lifted skyward so I declared the laboratory officially open!
It was such a pleasure to meet the Headmaster, Dr Simon Orchard, Head of Science, Colin, Marketing Director, Jo Beard, and all the inspiring students of Our Lady of Sion School, and I wish them many happy years of education and fun in their amazing new laboratory before they head out into the world to make their scientific mark, as I am sure they will.
Thank you one and all.
