'THE CATHEDRAL OF THE SKIES' ASTRONOMICAL FUNDRAISING EVENT

As a result of our forward thinking, and fun, Rector, Daniel Merceron, I am going to be giving an astronomy presentation in St Andrew's Church, Alfriston, to help raise funds for its Restoration.

The Alfriston parish church, dedicated to St Andrew, has Saxon origins, although most of the building dates from the 14th century. It is known, because of its size, as The Cathedral of the South Downs and sits on a small, flint-walled mound in the middle of "the Tye" (the local village green) overlooking the River Cuckmere.

It is beautiful, but is in need of extensive and lengthy restoration, so what better way to play my part than to transform ‘The Cathedral of the South Downs’ into ‘The Cathedral of the Skies’, taking my ‘congregation’ on a wondrous journey through the Cosmos and raising funds along the way.

This is going to be a hugely exciting event … more details will follow once a date is finalised, so watch this space!
